History of Sunrise Exotic Ranch
|
|
In 1975 a life-long interest in wildlife conservation and exotic species led Sunrise owners
Frank and Karon Glass to adopt a 3 day old mountain lion cub. Next, they brought two buffalo
onto their cattle ranch. As they acquired other exotic breeds, including their now famous
family of retired Ringling Bros. chimpanzees, Sunrise Ranch gradually made the transformation
into an exclusively exotic habitat, home to over forty species, many rare and endangered.
|
|
|
Open to the public since 1995, Sunrise has become a popular site for a variety of events
including: youth group tours, corporate gatherings, school outings, private parties, and
weddings. New amenities are constantly being added to accommodate the ranch's growing
number of visitors. A large covered pavilion was constructed, three unique bed and
breakfasts are scattered about the compound, and specially designed trams for touring
the different wildlife enclosures have been added.

|
Sunrise Exotic Ranch, which began as a private enterprise spurred by the Glass' interest
in providing habitat for endangered species and in wildlife conservation, has become a
popular regional attraction.
